Kim thanked Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving her the opportunity to wear the “evocative piece of fashion history.” Kim sparkled in the Jean Louis dress.

She said:
I am so honored to be wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. It is a stunning skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis.
Thank you Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving me the opportunity to debut this evocative piece of fashion history for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it. I am forever grateful for this moment.
Kim told Vogue:
The idea really came to me after the gala in September last year. I thought to myself, what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of? And that’s Marilyn Monroe. For me the most Marilyn Monroe moment is when she sang ‘Happy Birthday,’ to JFK, it was that look.
Kim completed the look with her perfectly coiffed, platinum blonde hairdo, telling the outlet that took 14 hours to dye her tresses.
