CelebNReality247.com reports that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is saying goodbye to her GTL days.
The reality TV star announced she’s “retiring” from “Jersey Shore” on the latest episode of her podcast, which dropped Friday morning.
Snooki said:
So here comes my breaking news … it’s definitely a hard decision. I’m gonna throw up. OK, you guys, I love you so much and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from ‘Jersey Shore.’
Nicole explained, adding that leaving her kids for filming is difficult:
I am not coming back to Jersey Shore for a season four, if there is one. And there’s a lot of reasons why, but the main reason is really, I just can’t do it anymore…[it’s] really really hard.
She has constantly thought about quitting:
I hate being away from the kids, I don’t like partying three days in a row, it’s just not my life anymore and I wanna be home with the kids,” she continued. “It’s just really hard on me to leave the kids and film the show. That’s one reason.
She said that when she films, she wants to have a good time and come off as “a good person,” but “lately on the show, it’s just been very dramatic.”
Snooki goes on to say:
Our show, Jersey Shore, is about family and about making fun of each other and having a good time and laughing, and just knowing that it’s all in good fun. And lately, it’s just like, everything is so serious, and when it comes to our show it’s not about like, team this, team that, and then fans are against one another when it comes to a cast member. That’s just not how the show works and that’s how it’s becoming.
I don’t want that and I’m not leaving my kids days on end to film this show when that’s the result of it. I don’t like the turnout of it and I don’t like the person I’m being portrayed as and this is getting a little too much. 32 years old with 3 kids and if I’m doing a reality show I want it to be fun and lighthearted and just lately it’s not like that and the show is getting so dramatic and drama.
When her cohost said they don’t need the drama, she said unfortunately “that’s the whole show now and I just can’t be a part of something like that.”
Snooki added that she’s not comfortable with “the direction” the show is going:
Jersey Shore: Family Vacation is just a lot and it’s not something I signed up for with this show.
Her roommates tried to talk her “off a ledge” when it came to quitting, but she said “the show isn’t what it was … it’s all drama and team this and team that and death threats and I’m not about it anymore.”
she continued, adding that her exit doesn’t mean she’s done with TV or reality TV entirely:
I don’t like the narrative of anything, I’m removing myself, I love you guys so much, I love my roomies to death, they know that I’m not going anywhere when it comes to them and them being my family. The cattiness, I just can’t do it.
When it comes to Jersey Shore Family Vacation, there are no “hard feelings when it comes to the production or MTV.”
The Jersey Shore veteran says:
Hopefully, I can work with them more. I just want my roomies to have a good time and enough with the drama, please. It’s supposed to be a happy, fun show and it’s turning into a nightmare.
The decision comes amid a feud with costar Angelina Pivarnick, after Nicole, JWoww and Deena gave a bridesmaid speech at Angelina’s wedding which included jabs and jokes at the bride’s expense.
